The Last of The Wool: A Year of Stash Busting, Part 1

As mentioned in an earlier post, I have made it a goal of mine to use up the remaining wool in my stash and replace it with high quality non animal fiber yarns #thelastofthewool. I made the decision to do so last year after seeing just how much of my crafting space the wool was taking up. This year was pretty successful for me as far as knitting goals go. My goals were to have more finished objects than the year before, To finish the projects that I start in a reasonable amount of time (rather than creating hoards of WIPs only to sit untouched for years then be frogged), and to make a dent in my vast and previously ignored wool yarn stash. I'm proud to say that this year I have finished more projects than any of the previous years, that most of them have been finished within a week or less, with the exception of a Lavender Kimono which took an ungodly amount of time to finish and literally led me to believe that the entire universe was against me finishing it (I'll have a post on that hopefully in the near future), and that I was able to put a large dent in my remaining wool stash.

How did I make my goals this year with even less time to knit than I had before? All I can say is

Saying Goodbye To Second Sock Aversion and Self Guilt

As part of my New Years Resolution I have begun to not only knit more often but to complete the projects that I start. Now I know that I am not the only knitter who starts projects and keeps them on the needles for a bit longer than they planned but I honestly have so many WIP's that I can no longer keep track of them and that is a problem for me. I have made myself promise that from this point on I will keep my projects down to a more manageable number and I will either work on them until they are finished or I will frog them and move on to something else.

Great, Now What do I do with all this Wool?

On May 18th of this year I made one of the biggest and most important decisions of my life to
date... I went Vegan.

Being Auntie [A Story of Survival]

The past few months have been very slow for me knitting wise. I was having a hard time finding the time or motivation to knit anything... Which is a rare and scary feeling for me. For the past few weeks my youngest niece had been visiting with us. Yes, for the past few weeks my 2 year old silly little ball of energy niece who sprints like the wind and tries to lock herself in dark bedrooms was in my care during the day and most of the night.

Taking care of young children is fun but challenging none the less. Getting her up and ready to go during the coldest days of the year has taught me many things. I am a creative person person so naturally I spend a lot of time and dedicate a lot of thought and energy to creating things that are neat and thoughtful as well as functional. Minutes after she left I deep cleaned the house. Then I got to work on the latest addition to my shop. This items design was entirely inspired by my little niece and my experiences taking care of her.

My First [Completed] Sweater

If you follow me on any of my social media accounts then you know that this is not the first sweater I have started to knit up for myself. For some reason any time I tried to knit myself a sweater something happened to set me back. As if I was doomed to only be able to knit for other people…That’s how it felt anyway.

The pattern used to make this sweater is called “$5 In Paris”.
